January 2008
Japanese art exhibition (Perth, UK)
One of Petit Japon’s biggest achievements has been a successful art exhibition in Perth! Petit Japon has contributed to an exhibition of Japanese art at Perth Museum and Art Gallery, running from January 2008 until January 2009, entitled ‘A glimpse of the floating world’. The exhibition presents a selection of Japanese art and objects from around the 19th century. It gives a glimpse of life in the ‘floating world’, a term which was used to describe the entertainment districts of Japanese cities where tea ceremony houses and kabuki theatres flourished in that century. It was world set apart from mainstream Japanese society.
This exhibition has provided thousands of visitors with an insight into Japanese culture and helped give that culture enormous credibility amongst the UK public.
